How to Plan A Family Movie night

With the way things are at the moment I felt like we were spending less and less time together, doing things as a family. I wanted us still to do fun things together and continue to make memories.

I tried to think of ways that we could make memories, have fun but still be safe at home and I thought of the idea to have themed nights.

First night I kept it easy and planned a movie night. Now we have movie nights quite often but it is usually just us watching a film. I tried to think of ideas that would make it a little bit different from what we usually do and more memorable.

I started off searching for a movie ticket printable which I found here and made us one each by printing them off, sticking them on to card and then cutting them out.

Movie night boxes

We have a letter peg board that I got a few years ago from home bargains but this one is similar actually I think it looks better than mine!
I added the film, time and Free popcorn on to the letter board.

Now for the fun bit – FOOD!
We saved our empty cereal boxes and I glued them shut again.
I drew round a can of Pepsi over to one corner and cut the circle out.
I then cut a rectangle big enough for the popcorn bags, they were actually little sweet bags but I left it too late to order the popcorn boxes that I wanted, for them to arrive in time, so used the bags as I already had them at home and then cut a large square for the hotdog to sit in.

We then painted them white using some furniture chalk paint as its quite thick and covers well.
Then on the night you can pop your food items into the box and each person gets their own box with their own food and treats in.

We had the Beyond meat sausages in a sub roll, with vegan cheese and lots of mustard and ketchup, served with french fries and onion rings.
I then made some topped popcorn, which is popcorn (we use salted) topped with some chopped Oreos, chopped pretzels and some rainbow drops. We had those toppings as they are vegan but you could add Rolos, chopped Maltesers, Milky way stars, chocolate drops – I mean the list is endless!
We also had some jelly tots and skittles in little bowls on the side for after the hotdogs and popcorn.

The girls loved having their own box of goodies and it just made a usual movie night a little bit more fun.

We plan on having some more ‘themed’ nights for us to spend time together so keep an eye out for those.

I hope you enjoy your movie night.
