How to make a Santa sweet sleigh for a lovely DIY present!
I love homemade gifts. I love to give them and I love to receive them. There is just something about knowing that someone has put that extra effort into something that they have given to you.
I first made these Santa Sweet Sleighs a couple of years ago and they were really popular, so popular in fact, that I had people wanting to buy them from me.
I like to share things I love, so this post contains affiliate links. If you choose to purchase using the link, I may receive a small percentage at no extra cost to you.
Most of the “ingredients” for the Santa sweet sleighs came from the Pound shop but they can be found in most supermarkets too and of course you can use different sweets and chocolate to what I used. You want to just make sure that they stack nicely on top of each other, with the largest bits on the bottom and the smallest on the top.
I also hot glued the different pieces together as I wanted to make sure that they didn’t fall apart and this also meant that they travelled better when delivering them to other people.
What you are going to need to make 1 Santa Sweet Sleigh –
- 2 x Candy canes
- 1 x 4 fingered kit kat
- 3 x Kinder chocolate mini
- 2 x Fun size Smartie boxes
- 1 x Small flat wrapped chocolate square (these came in a net bag)
- 2 x Chocolate coins
- 1 x Small chocolate Santa
- Ribbon
- Hot Glue
You can find my video on how I made the Santa sweet Sleighs here if you prefer or the written instructions are below.
To start with lay all your pieces out in front of you and plug your glue gun in.
Next you want to glue your candy canes to the bottom of your kit-kat, along the long sides of the Kit Kat. I used minimal glue, just enough to hold it all in place.
On top of the Kit Kat lay the kinder chocolate long ways, followed by the 2 boxes of smarties and then the slab of chocolate, finishing with the 2 chocolate coins.
Tie your ribbon round and glue your little Santa to the front to steer the sleigh.
I will say that these are quite delicate and probably won’t take a huge amount of bashing about!
Merry Christmas!!
