One of my favourite foods is pizza and during this extra time that we have been having at home, we have been trying pizzas with a twist (quite litrally!)
We have had pizza pitta bread, pizza on a wrap (this is particularly nice with BBQ sauce instead of tomato sauce – you have to try it!) and then we tried some pizza twists, using pastry after we had already been making cheese twists the previous day.
The result was a winner with everyone in the house, so I thought I would share how we made them.

These pizza twists make a tasty snack and I definitely plan on making some to take on a picnic or to put in the girls school lunches.
We made ours vegetarian but you can add whatever toppings you usually enjoy. I just wouldn’t add too many.
For the pizza twists you are going to need;
- Ready rolled puff pastry – doesn’t have to be ready rolled but it is easier!
- Tomato puree
- Grated cheddar cheese, about 100g
- Tinned sweetcorn
- Mixed herbs
- A little milk or egg to brush on the pastry

This is what you need to do –
- You need to preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- Unroll the pastry and cover with tomato puree.
- Sprinkle the grated cheese over the top and add your toppings and a sprinkling of mixed herbs.
- Fold the pastry in half long ways, so the two long sides meet together.
- Now cut strips about 3 cm wide from the long side to long side. See pictures below.
- Twist and place on a baking sheet, brush with egg or milk and pop in the oven for around 12 mins.

And that is it, so simple yet super tasty.
